ACTION PLAN ON ENVIRONMENTAL REMEDIATION IN AND AROUND UCIL, BHOPAL

This was an effort to develop an action plan to resolve all the outstanding issues related to the Union Carbide factory in Bhopal. We got all the stakeholders together and developed this action plan. This action plan was also submitted to the Supreme Court, but it is yet to be implemented.

HEAVY METALS IN COSMETICS

The study found high levels of heavy metals like Mercury and Chromium in cosmetics in India and highlighted the double standards of the multinational companies. This prompted the BIS to strengthen the regulations.

PHTHALATES IN TOYS

This study highlighted the presence of toxic Phthalates in toys being imported from China.

LEAD IN PAINTS

This laboratory study highlighted the presence of Lead in household paints in India. The study convinced few manufacturers to phase-out Lead from their products.
